Master Maritime provides comprehensive marine surveying services to meet the varied needs of our clients. Our Seattle, Washington location makes for easy access to vessel and cargo surveys on the west coast of the United States including the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Master Maritime acts on the behalf of the owner, charterer or insurer to verify proper documentation of cargo irregularities and damage to the ship or its associated gear commensurate with the transfer of breakbulk, RO/RO and intermodal cargos between the foreign flagged shipping companies and US cargo terminals.

Our services include:

  • General planning and consultation services concerning any cargo and logistics-related issues.
  • Pre-loading condition surveys of ship and cargo handling gear.
  • On charter, off charter surveys including condition surveys of cargo compartments and handling gear and the verification of regulatory compliance.
  • General condition surveys of ship and cargo hatch surveys, including condition of cargo prior to, during, and after discharge.
  • Special surveys of heavy or large cargo including the loading, stowage and securing of general cargo on and under deck including special cargo and/or safety inspection to meet the specific requirements of governments, ship operators, insurance companies or the shipper.
  • Surveys of military cargo including sensitive items requiring proper security clearances.
  • Container inspection, including the inspection of containers for handling damage, damage in transit, and the lashing of containers on deck, inspection of the stowage of the cargo inside containers and the suitability inspection of containers prior to leasing. Master Maritime will conduct the inspection of containers loaded with hazardous cargo for compliance with the International Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG), 49 CFR (shipping) and other applicable U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
  • US Customs import seal audits to ensure cargo security and monitor the maintenance of temperature records on shipments US Department of Agriculture sensitive commodities.
  • Independent witnessing of cargo loading including heavy lift and explosives including proper segregation and lashing.
  • Surveys of import and export operations for automobiles including stowage, lashing and damage in transit, loading or discharge.
  • Inspection of cargo compartments for cleanliness and condition prior to loading of bulk cargoes.
  • Volume and Weight Calculations including cargo and space measurement surveys, the determination of tonnage of cargo loaded on or discharged from ships or barges by immersion computation, and the witnessing of tank soundings of ships and barges, including the computation of the quantity of liquids in tanks.
  • Independent sea trial witnessing and documentation.
  • Independent witnessing of inclining experiments.
  • Independent witnessing and verification of shipyard repairs.
  • Load planning including the verification and certification of proper segregation of hazardous materials and the special handling requirements of breakbulk explosives.
  • Consultation and oversight to ensure proper completion of the Dangerous Cargo Manifest.
